Del amaru al toro presents pieces made in the communities of Checca and Santiago de Pupuja that were part of the private collection of Alicia Bustamante, a Peruvian indigenous painter and collector. Upon her death, the collection was divided, one part was donated to the University of San Marcos and the other became the patrimony of Casa de las Americas. Forty years after Celia Bustamante’s trip to Cuba to donate the works that her sister collected in her travels through the different departments, this exhibition is done as tribute to her.
