Popart Conspiracy (online)

The anonymous contemporary art collective Curatingpublicspace, debuted at the National Gallery Växjö Konsthall, in 2019, with the group show “Välkommen Till Trollskogen” / “Welcome to the Fairy Forest”, as a project part of the Triennial “Nya Småland”. The collective opened the online exhibition Curtains Down – Popart Conspiracy * on February 28. The exhibition was created in collaboration with several Cuban artists and was shown in Malmö, Sweden, at the gallery in ALTA/i.industri Galleriet in the middle of the darkest days of the pandemic last December with limited group attendance. Through art, the art collective and contributors, one of them the new editor-in-chief of Ord och Bild, Sweden’s oldest culture magazine and curator of the triennial Nya Småland, Jonatan Habib Engqvist, explore a wound in the Swedish folk soul, which is the real victim of this generational trauma

Popart Conspiracy

CuratingPublicSpace (CPS) is a creative collective that is interested in events or happenings that mark the soul of nations. In this case the project seeks to heal a trauma in the soul of the Swedish people. It was born from a family event, the death of one of the sons by gunshot and the destruction of the family despite psychological treatments. All the therapy was focused on the past, but the future was not healed.

The exhibition does not speak of the loss of life of two people, but of the still open wound that these deaths caused in the national spirit, defining forever the concepts of habitat and home for its native and migrant population. The exhibition involves literature, installation, original music composed for the show and two-dimensional works.
